CMT will host a sneak peek of the Kansas City Streetcar Project on Jan. 22

KCstreetcarPCThe Kansas City Streetcar is under construction, millions in new development is going in along its path, and residents will soon be able to jump on board as it hits the tracks for service in 2015.   Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) will host a sneak peek of the Kansas City Streetcar on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 with a Panel Discussion at the MX Movie Theater at 618 Washington Ave. The panel discussion will give St. Louisans the opportunity to hear an update on the Kansas City Streetcar Project Phase I and plans for Phase II as well as the opportunity to hear from the Executive Director of the Kansas City Streetcar Authority. Speakers include:

  • Tom Gerend, Executive Director of the Kansas City Streetcar Authority
  • Ralph Davis, City Engineer, City of Kansas City
  • David Vozzolo, HDR National Streetcar Program Director, on Phase I of the KC Streetcar project
  • Brian Comer, HNTB Project Manager for Next Rail, on Phase II of the KC Streetcar project

The event will be held at the MX Movie Theater, 618 Washington Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63101.  The MX is accessible by MetroLink via the Convention Center Stop as well as the #99 Downtown Trolley.  Paid Parking is available at the 7th Street Garage located at 7th and Locust. CMT Member Tickets are $20, and non-member tickets are $30.  Reservations required. “CMT is excited to host this event and promote all the development around the KC streetcar alignment as the next large scale transit infrastructure project moving forward in Missouri. The potential is there for expansion in the St. Louis market as long as funding is secured for both capital and operations.  We are hoping this discussion spurs some thoughts on possible funding mixes, partnerships and excitement for the St. Louis transit system,” said Kimberly Cella, CMT Executive Director.
