On February 2, President Obama released his fiscal year (FY) 2016 budget request for funding the federal government. According to the Center for Transportation Excellence, within the budget request, the Federal Transit Administration’s New Starts/Small Starts grant program designated 54 projects to receive grants to improve and/or expand public transit.
Many of the awards include projects that are tied to transit ballot initiatives in 2015 and 2016. If the measures pass, the projects will receive funds from New Starts/Small Starts program. If not, the federal funding will not occur. To the right is a full list of the FY16 recommended projects.
There are no projects for Missouri and only two for Illinois in the Chicago area.
