Sports Fans Encouraged to Take Metro Transit Downtown This Weekend

As Tens of thousands of sports fans descend on the streets of downtown St. Louis this weekend for the St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup Finals and the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs game. Transit is a great option to enjoy all of the excitement without getting stuck in major traffic on the highways, crowded downtown streets and finding (and paying for) a place to park.

Sports fans can park at one of the 21 free Park-Ride lots at MetroLink stations in both Missouri and Illinois, and ride MetroLink to any of the six stations serving downtown St. Louis to make it to the games, watch parties, concerts, rallies and other events taking place this weekend.

Due to large crowds expected in downtown St. Louis all weekend, Metro will have extra security and personnel throughout the MetroLink system to assist passengers. MetroLink Operations will monitor platforms and will be ready to add extra trains into service if needed.

As part of a pilot program, the new fare-purchasing mobile app allows customers to buy MetroLink tickets valid for Blues and Cardinals game days and store them on their mobile device. Metro Mobile is available for iOS and Android devices. Learn more at metrostlouis.org/mobile.

To plan your trip to these downtown sporting events, download the Transit app to your mobile device, use the Trip Planner on metrostlouis.org or contact Metro Transit Information at 314-231-2345 or 618-271-2345 or text 314-207-9786, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
