Sound Transit’s TOD Policy Adoption

December 27, 2012

sound transitSeattle’s Sound Transit has developed a transit oriented development policy to increase ridership “by promoting ‘positive land use and development’ within walking distance of transit facilities.”

The new policy will motivate future efforts to support TOD endeavors for the Sound Transit’s own properties as well as surrounding regions, “recognizing that both types of opportunities involve working closely with local jurisdictions as well as private partners,” Sound Transit officials said.

“The increased focus on TOD will span planning, constructing and operating regional transit expansions, including up to 36 additional miles of light-rail extensions approved through the 2008 Sound Transit 2 measure.”
