Riding “The Tide”

A recent article in Progressive Railroading highlighted that in Norfolk, Virginia, if the light rail system, Hampton Roads Transit’s The Tide, did not exist, 44% of the riders would be using cars instead.  The Tide began service just over a year ago and “In just over a year, light rail has demonstrated its importance to the commuting public,” said William Harrell, HRT’s president and chief executive officer.
