Riding Public Transportation Saves Individual s $9,743 a Year According to Most Recent APTA Report

Bike and BusAPTA’s June Transit Savings Report shows that individuals who take public transportation rather than driving can save, on average, more than $812 this month, and $9,743 over the course of a year.  They arrive at these numbers by figuring costs for owning and driving a vehicle, national gas prices, and national unreserved monthly parking rates.  These numbers are then compared to the cost of commuting via transit.  The monthly Transit Savings Reports are released to show how individuals in two-person households can save money by living with one less car.
