Free Monthly Transit Pass Available for First-Time Transit Users

Citizens for Modern Transit – in conjunction with Metro Transit and St. Clair County Transit District – has launched a “Match with Metro Transit” campaign to encourage solo drivers to get better acquainted with MetroLink and MetroBus. Those new to the public transit scene can get a free monthly transit pass for their school or workday commute. March passes are available to the first 250 individuals who register online here.

Partners are also sharing the love with current riders by offering a “sweetheart deal” – a free, limited-edition, transit t-shirt if they get a new rider to register. Current riders can refer a new rider by completing this online registration form.  Street teams will be at the North Hanley, Cortex, Central West End, 5th & Missouri, Belleville, and Shrewsbury – Lansdowne I-44 Transit Centers from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, handing out valentines and suckers to thank riders and educate them about this effort.

“With 38 MetroLink stations and 59 MetroBus routes, thousands are already taking transit to get where they need to go,” commented Kim Cella, executive director of Citizens for Modern Transit. “Through this campaign, we want to help increase new ridership. Transit is safe, convenient and cost-effective. What’s not to love about that.”

“Match with Metro Transit” is part of the partnering organizations’ ongoing efforts to interact with riders, strengthen relationships and reinforce their collective commitment to a safe, comfortable, customer-focused transit experience. To learn more, visit
