MetroBus Service Changes Arriving in St. Clair County on June 15

St. Clair County Transit District’s (SCCTD) is working to streamline services to meet the changing needs of its customer base. Some bus route changes will go into effect starting Monday, June 15. These include the suspension of the #2X Columbia-Waterloo and the discontinuation of the #7 Fairmont City. Alternative service options are available for these customers.

The #2 Cahokia route operated by Metro Transit will replace the #2X Columbia-Waterloo bus service to Monroe County. The #2 Cahokia MetroBus will connect with a Monroe-Randolph Transit District route in Dupo to continue the journey to the Columbia-Waterloo area. The SCCTD Flyer service will be made available for those who typically rely on the #7 MetroBus serving Fairmont City to the Emerson Park MetroLink Station.

#2X MetroBus in Columbia-Waterloo

This express, fixed-route bus service to the 5th & Missouri MetroLink Station will be suspended on Monday, June 15, and replaced by the #2 Cahokia route operated by Metro Transit. This route will connect with a Monroe-Randolph Transit District route in Dupo to continue the journey to Columbia-Waterloo. Metro Transit fare tickets and passes will be accepted aboard this route. Plans are underway to provide two inbound and two outbound routes per day through this service. Additional specifics will be made available in the coming weeks including service times, routes and stop locations.

#7 MetroBus in Fairmont City

This service will be discontinued as of Monday, June 15, and replaced with on-demand, shared-ride SCCTD Flyer service. The SCCTD Flyer costs $3 per one-way trip to or from one of the four local MetroLink Stations (5th & Missouri, Emerson Park, Washington Park and JJK Center) and connecting MetroBus routes within the boundaries of East St. Louis and Fairmont City. Transfers are not included. Service is available weekdays between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. and can be scheduled by calling (618) 800-6884 or downloading the TransLoc app, which is available through the Apple Store or Google Play. Passes can be paid for through the app or at the East Riverfront MetroLink Station, East St. Louis Township Building, Gateway Market, Neighbors Marketplace and Quick Bite at the Belleville MetroLink Station. No cash fares will be accepted.
