Metro Transit Capping Buses at Seated Load Due to COVID-19

Metro Transit continues to take steps to protect riders and drivers due to the COVID-19 outbreak.   The latest service protocol is to limit the number of passengers to seated loads (40 passengers on a 40’ bus).    Currently, many buses are seeing more than seated loads which is a problem for social distancing.

Metro Transit is working to shift service and to help alleviate overcrowding.  In addition, effective Sunday, April 5, the indoor areas at the Civic Center, Riverview, North County, and Ballas Transit Centers were closed until further notice. These four Metro Transit Centers will remain open for MetroBus and MetroLink service, but riders will not be able to access the indoor areas at the transit center.

This measure is being implemented as part of our ongoing efforts to minimize potential exposure to riders and employees while continuing to provide critical transportation options for essential workers and necessary trips during the COVID-19 crisis.
