Consider Metro Transit to Access Greater St. Louis Marathon this Weekend

The Greater St. Louis Marathon will take place this Saturday, April 27. With thousands of runners, walkers, and spectators taking over the streets of downtown St. Louis, Metro Transit stands out as a reliable option for getting to and from the race while avoiding the hassle of street closures, crowded streets, and limited parking.

With the starting point and finish line a short distance from Union Station on Market Street, taking MetroLink to and from Union Station will get you within walking distance to prepare for the race or meet friends and family. Metro Transit offers 21 Park-Ride lots in both Missouri and Illinois where you can park for free and travel via MetroLink to the race. Fare can be purchased at each MetroLink station or via the Transit app.

Those traveling to the race via MetroBus or using MetroBus for other travel should be aware that starting at 5 AM on Saturday, a variety of streets and lanes will be closed which will require the rerouting of 13 MetroBus routes. The 13 routes are:

  • #4 Natural Bridge
  • #10 Gravois-Lindell
  • #11 Chippewa
  • #19 St. Louis Ave.
  • #30 Arsenal
  • #31 Chouteau
  • #32 Dr. ML King
  • #40 N. Broadway
  • #41 Lee
  • #73 Carondelet
  • #74 Florissant
  • #94 Page
  • #97 Delmar

Metro Transit recommends that riders allow extra time for their commute via MetroBus due to the closures and reroutes. The MetroBus routes will return to normal following the completion of the marathon. Questions about specific MetroBus routes on the day of the race should be directed to Metro Transit Information at 314-231-2345 (phone) or 314-207-9786 (text).
