CMT Sponsors ULI TAP at Belleville Station

Thursday, November 11, 2011, Citizens for Modern Transit partnered with Metro, St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD), and the City of Belleville to host the first of three Urban Land Institute (ULI) Technical Assistance Panels (TAPs).  Technical Assistance Panels are part of ULI’s Advisory Services Program and consists of panel of industry professionals assembled to study a project area.

This TAP, funded by the St. Clair County Transit District, was led by Richard Ward of Zimmer Real Estate Services, LC,  and the panel consisted of :

  • Andy Barnes, IMPACT Strategies
  • Jerry Crylen, GTE Properties, LLC
  • Aaron Williams, Alberici Constructors, Inc.
  • Kelly Annis, Branch Communications LLC
  • Steve Nystrom, US Bank
  • Jennifer Olmstead, ULI St. Louis
  • Scott Schanuel, Woolpert

The panelists conducted in-depth stakeholder engagement meetings to gather insight on the project area and how it fits in the greater context of Belleville and the MetroLink system as a whole.  Their findings were put together and presented to the CMT Board of Directors, stakeholders,  and invited guests Tuesday (11/15/2011) morning.   A full debriefing report is being put together and will be released soon.  Additionally, Metro, SCCTD, and the City of Belleville will continue to work together to develop and issue an RFQ and subsequent RFP for the the area adjacent to the station. The hope is Metro will be able to replicate this process system-wide in proactive move to drive development at each station.

CMT plans to engage the ULI to conduct our next Technical Assistance Panel at the Richmond Heights MetroLink Station in January of 2012.
