Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) is thrilled to announce it has been selected to receive a 2024 AARP Community Challenge grant. The organization was one of only 343 grantees selected (out of 3,300+ applications!) from across all 50 states, Washington D.C, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This quick-action $20,000 grant will help provide the capital needed to further the latest “Transit Stop Transformation” project being spearheaded by CMT and AARP in St. Louis. The partners are working to transform the MetroBus Stop #9045, located at 13th Street and Gravois Avenue near Soulard in the City of St. Louis. The project aims to transform the dilapidated corner stop into a fresh, vibrant space with seating, a bus shelter, paved walkways, landscaping and more. Once the second round of community engagement is completed, the design concept will be finalized, and construction will commence. The project is expected to be completed in January 2025.
A special thank you to AARP for this investment. It will go a long way towards making this area more livable for residents of all ages.
AARP is a nationwide leader in making communities more livable, and CMT is honored that they see the tangible value this project will bring to our area.
