CMT Challenges Members with year end appeal

I am pleased to inform you that Citzens for Modern Transit (CMT) has been awarded a grant to help build support for public transit in our community. This competitively-awarded Federal grant will provide more than $600,000 to CMT to educate the public about public transit; to provide support for building livable communities that encourage transit use; and for the first time, to conduct a feasibility study for a potential new MetroLink station located at CORTEX in the midtown area of St. Louis.

We need your help! This Federal grant requires CMT to provide a local match of 20 percent. CMT has already raised $55,000 in contributions, but we are challenging our members to help us reach our goal by the end of this year. Please consider making a year-end gift to CMT so we can take advantage of this incredible opportunity to build support for our bus and light rail system.

Transit is a necessity for St. Louis! Please consider helping us with our efforts today! Here’s how you can help:

1. Consider making a special year-end gift to CMT in support of our new education program. You can make your gift today online.

2. Let your friends know about CMT through our website, Facebook, Twitter and more. Any new memberships in CMT can go towards our local match for this new grant award.

3. Join us at upcoming events and meetings surrounding our new efforts.

As the transit advocacy organization in the region, with a nationally recognized track record for success, we are very excited to take our experience and double our efforts to increase positive perceptions of transit in the region while increasing ridership. In addition, this is the first time that CMT will actually be leading a study to potentially bring a new station to the region. Our campaign, “Some of Us Ride it, All of Us Need it” is as relevant now as it was in 2010. Transit is not an option, it is a necessity whether you use it or not. Thanks in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Kimberly M. Cella
Executive Director
