CMT Awarded APTA Coalition Grant

Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) was recently awarded an American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Coalition Grant to help engage the community around the Transit Stop Transformation at the N. Hanley Metrolink Station. CMT will engage with AARP St. Louis, UMSL, and other area stakeholders to set up focus groups, pop-up events, and town hall meetings.  Throughout this process, CMT will utilize a survey to garner responses to a variety of questions regarding station layout, amenities, and design elements.

The end result of the coalition-building will be a Transit Transformation Project that creates a more inclusive, accessible transit station. The improved design will foster a greater sense of place and of community, which in turn will give area residents, and riders a sense of pride and ownership of the new amenities. The coalition will be a catalyst for these changes, and in turn, this investment can be a catalyst for further investment in the surrounding area.

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is a nonprofit international association of more than 1,500 public and private sector member organizations.
