CMT and Transit Bring Home a Win

Recently CMT participated in the New American Road Trip Contest.  The contest was held completely on Instagram.  CMT tied for second place with the Missouri Sierra Club.  Both organizations were recognized for their work in promoting alternative transportation options that create a positive impact on green house gas emissions in the area. Additionally, three organizations shared the first place prize including Bi-State Development, TrailNet, and St. Louis BWorks.

The New American Road Trip, an electric-vehicle car tour across America, is aimed at highlighting the stories of people and emerging technologies from America’s heartland that are helping ensure the nation’s clean energy future. The New American Road Trip team launched from San Francisco headed to New York on a cross country electric car road trip, gathering inspiring stories and support from people in cities like Las Vegas, Boulder, St. Louis and Pittsburgh along the way.  The New American Road Trip made a stop in St. Louis on September 21, 2018 to announce the contest winners and display the electric vehicle making the journey.

The New American Road Trip tour began on September 14 at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, where summit co-chairs California Governor Jerry Brown, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Climate Action Michael R. Bloomberg, Mahindra Group CEO Anand Mahindra, UN Secretary-General’s Youth Special Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake and UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa presented a call to action signed by city and state officials, and business leaders declaring their commitment to climate action and encouraging more ambitious steps from national and international leaders.
