Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) has teamed up again with the St. Louis Green Business Challenge as a sponsor of the 2018 season. The St. Louis Green Business Challenge was launched in 2010 by the St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce working with the Missouri Botanical Garden. The Garden continues to deliver the program today with the Chamber’s continued support as a sponsor.
The Challenge delivers “Triple Bottom Line” results (financial, social, and environmental) to businesses of all types and sizes across the St. Louis region. The Challenge supports integration of sustainability measures into the kinds of everyday operational practices common to every business. Participants are also recognized for innovative sustainability measures specific to their business specialization.
Citizens of Modern Transit will provide participants with information and programs to help their employees switch from single occupancy vehicle commuting to a variety of public transit options through their diverse portfolio of programs. CMT’s programs work both at an individual employee level, such as the Try and Ride program, or the Guaranteed Ride Home Program, and also at an organizational level, such as the Commuter Choice Program.
“Green Transportation resources are in demand at Challenge companies,” says Jean Ponzi, Missori Botanical Garden program manager. “CMT’s support for these efforts as a sponsor of the Challenge and the workplace education and support services the CMT team provides help companies all over our region motivate employees to get around more sustainably.”
CMT is available for lunch and learns, Wellness or Eco Fair tabling, or other public and corporate engagement events to educate employees and stakeholders on the benefits of public transportation. Reducing the number of single occupancy vehicles on the road has a direct impact on air quality and pollution levels in the region.
