The region’s transit advocacy organization, Citizens for Modern Transit, today announced it has elected Samuel Murphey, chief strategy officer for Greater St. Louis, Inc., as the newest member of its Board of Directors. He will serve a three-year term.
Murphey has spent his career leading public affairs teams in both the public and private sectors. Before joining the newly created Greater St. Louis, Inc. – an economic development organization serving the bi-state St. Louis Metropolitan region – as the chief strategy officer, Murphey was the head of global issues management for Bayer Crop Science. He has also served in issues management and public affairs leadership roles at Monsanto Co. and as the communications director to former Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and worked on numerous political campaigns.
“We are pleased to welcome Sam to our diverse team of local leaders,” said Kimberly Cella, executive director of Citizens for Modern Transit. “His background and expertise will go a long way towards helping to further our efforts to ensure safe, reliable and affordable access to transit.”
