As part of CMT’s upcoming Merry on Metro celebration, two special Ten Two Express walks in December have been announced. The Ten Toe Express program typically runs two twelve-week sessions each year, one in the spring from April to June and a second session in the fall from September to November. These special holiday walks are both free but do require registration. See below for more information and links to register to join in the fun.
Tuesday, December 7 – Holidays in Bloom – Poinsettia Show at the Jewel Box
Join us for a walk in the Jewel Box in Forest Park through their annual Poinsettia Show. The art deco-styled greenhouse will be beautifully adorned with Poinsettias in every color. This colorful walk is not to be missed!
More about the Jewel Box: The Jewel Box, located on a 17-acre site in Forest Park, was built by the City of St. Louis in 1936 and is operated by the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry. It is listed on the National Historic Register. The permanent floral displays are supplemented with seasonal flowers from the city’s greenhouses grown and planted by the Flora Conservancy of Forest Park, the volunteer gardening group, and the Horticulture Section of the Parks Division.
Optional add-in: After touring the Poinsettia Show at the Jewel Box, walkers will stop in at the Boat House in Forest Park for lunch before returning to the MetroLink Station for the ride home. Walkers are responsible for the cost of their own meal and any gratuity associated with dining.

Thursday, December 9 – Guided Tour of Belleville Mainstreet’s German Christkindlmarkt and Holiday Festivities
Experience the charm of Downtown Belleville during the holidays with a guided stroll down Main Street visiting the traditional open-air German Christkindlmarkt, take in the gingerbread houses and Christmas tree displays, and enjoy the amenities of Main Street! Hot chocolate, coffee, quaint shops, and local restaurants will be open and available to stop in and visit as well. Join us on this magical walk, with our special guest walk guide from the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, as they share the not to be missed treasures of the local holiday festivities.
