Taking a lead from former CMT Board Chair June McAllister Fowler, CMT is working to promote all the great eateries in downtown St. Louis accessible by transit. Recently, June was featured in a St. Louis Post Dispatch story for her dedication to spreading a positive message about downtown St. Louis and encouraging others to explore the many restaurants downtown. It began with a simple Facebook post where she shared a photo of herself and her husband at a downtown restaurant accompanied by the hashtag #DineDowntownSTL. Since then, she has used the hashtag dozens of times as she explores restaurants with family and friends in Downtown St. Louis.
“June is always the consummate leader and her #DineDowntownSTL is a great way to promote downtown. We thought why not take June’s tagline and help promote some really great restaurants in downtown St. Louis that are also accessible via transit. We will be highlighting some this summer and are hoping our members and friends will share some as well,” said Kim Cella, executive director of CMT.
While the Convention Center MetroLink Station is currently closed for construction, the Laclede’s Landing MetroLink Station provides access to restaurants on Laclede’s Landing as well as Washington Avenue. The 8th & Pine and Stadium MetroLink stations can connect you to more restaurants in Ballpark Village and the surrounding area. Downtown is also served by Metro Transit bus routes such as the #4, #10, #32, #74, and many more.
MetroLink and MetroBus maps are available on the Metro Transit website. Finding a new favorite restaurant may be as simple as boarding transit and walking a short distance. Next time you eat downtown, use the #DineDowntownSTL and join June in encouraging positivity and excitement around downtown St. Louis. Feel free to email some great spots to highlight to info@cmt-stl.org as well.
