Amtrak’s temporary suspension of the Missouri River Runner route has been extended. Trains #311 and #316, which normally operate between St. Louis and Kansas City will not be running through December 15, 2022. Amtrak plans to resume normal operations on December 16.
Amtrak is dealing with a lack of available rail cars, as well as staffing shortages impacting their ability to perform necessary preventative maintenance on their fleet of passenger coaches. Amtrak has had to schedule temporary service reductions in various states since mid-summer.
Trains #318 and #319 will continue to run as usual, as will the Southwest Chief and Texas Eagle trains.
