Metro Transit has announced a temporary adjustment to MetroLink service that will be in place from Thursday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 22. During that time frame, the following modifications will be in place:
- MetroLink Blue Line trains will only operate between the Shrewsbury Lansdowne I-44 and Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Stations. Customers should plan on transferring between Blue Line and Red Line trains at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station and should allow an extra 10 minutes or more to transfer trains or to make their MetroBus connection.
- Minor delays will be possible on MetroLink Red Line trains. Red Line trains will operate on a single track between the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center and Fairview Heights MetroLink Stations in Illinois, which may cause delays of up to 10 minutes.
Metro Transit is implementing these adjustments as a safety precaution due to an excessive accumulation of ice and snow near some MetroLink tracks in Illinois. Extreme temperature changes in the upcoming days may cause some shifting of the ground that could in turn impact operations. Metro continues to use every tool available to them to monitor and inspect the site to ensure the safety of staff and riders.
