Metro Transit has announced that on Friday, March 14, riders will no longer be able to text a Metro phone number to find out when the next bus is coming. This feature had allowed riders to include their bus stop ID number in a text and they would receive a text back with information about the arrival times of the next 3 buses. Unfortunately, Metro Transit has said the technology behind the service is outdated and therefore opens the door to cybersecurity issues.
Instead, riders may call 314-231-2345, select option 1, and use the keypad to enter the 4 or 5 digits stop number. Additionally, riders are encouraged to download the Transit app onto their mobile devices which allows them to track their bus in real time.
