Representatives Hinson and Schatz have introduced HJR 68 this week. It proposes a a constitutional amendment imposing a 1% temporary increase in the state sales and use tax to be used for transportation projects. These projects are not limited to roads and bridge projects as revenues from the state gas tax are limited to those projects. At the Missouri Chamber’s Transportation Conference yesterday, Representative Hinson pointed out the need for flexible funding for all modes of transportation especially in the urban areas.
Please consider reaching out to Representatives Hinson and Schatz as well as your Representative and Senator on the importance of funding transit as a catalyst for economic development, the provision of more transportation choices for Missourians and increase access for our older residents and disability communities.
CMT will continue to keep its members updated on the progress of this bill.
