Before we know it, September will be here and that means the start of the Fall session of the Ten Toe Express!  To kick off what is sure to be another wonderful season of walks, Citizens for Modern Transit will be hosting a walk on Friday, September 7.  The walk will commence at the Union Station MetroLink Station downtown, at the street level entrance, at 9:00 a.m. and from there we will walk to the Campbell House Museum on Locust to tour the beautiful 19th Century Victorian home.

The renowned fur trader and entrepreneur Robert Campbell and his family moved into this, the first house in the elegant neighborhood Lucas Place (now Locust St.), in 1854 and resided here until 1938.  Shortly thereafter, the home opened as a museum, which now contains hundreds of original Campbell possessions including furniture, paintings, clothing, letters, carriages and a unique set of interior photographs taken in the mid-1880s.  The home was designated a St. Louis Landmark in 1946 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.  For more information, see the Campbell House Museum’s website.  The tour on September 7 will last about an hour and there will be some stairs involved.

We are very excited about our new season starting and especially with this grand home tour to kick it off!  Coffee, water and pastries will be included at the Museum after the tour.  There will be a minimal fee (group rate) of $6 per person, which you can pay below or you can mail a check to CMT at 911 Washington Ave., Ste. 200, St. Louis, MO 63101.  We hope you will come out and use your Ten Toes with us in September.

Regular walking schedules will begin the following week, starting Monday, September 10.
