In March of this year, the East-West Gateway Board authorized a security assessment of the MetroLink system which will wrap up in December. The four peer systems including TriMet (Portland, OR), SacRT (Sacramento, CA), Metro Transit (Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN), and WMATA (Washington, D.C.) will weigh in on the St. Louis MEtroLink system. Lurae Stuart, the Project Manager, will give a brief overview of the peer review process, introduce the panelists, and moderate a discussion of their initial findings and recommendations. 

Safety and security of the system has been a topic of discussion for much of the last two years. In May 2017, St. Louis City Mayor Lyda Krewson, St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern, and St.  Louis County Executive Steve Stenger, whose jurisdictions fund Bi-State Development, in addition to John Nations, CEO of Bi-State, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the plan to improve MetroLink security developed in cooperation with law enforcement. Find out all the specifics on the assessment, hear from WSP’s LuRae Stuart on the study, and learn more on November 16.
