In an effort to actively address local challenges and continue to help our community regain confidence in safe and secure rides aboard MetroLink, the East-West Gateway Council of Governments’ Board of Directors authorized an 8-month, $400,000 MetroLink Security Assessment in March 2018. The assessment has been completed, and final security recommendations will be submitted in late February.

Citizens for Modern Transit’s upcoming “Talking Transit” event, sponsored in part by the St. Louis Regional Chamber and East-West Gateway Council of Governments, will provide a forum for discussion on these recommendations. Lurae Stuart, project manager of the New-York based consulting firm WSP USA, Inc., who led the assessment, will provide a brief overview of the MetroLink Security Assessment recommendations, before a panel of local stakeholders weigh in on the results and next steps for the St. Louis region. Panelists will include Jim Wild, executive director of East-West Gateway Council of Governments; Taulby Roach, president and CEO of Bi-State Development; Kathy Osborn, President and CEO of the Regional Business Council, and June McAllister Fowler, Citizens for Modern Transit Board Chair.
