What you will see:

This guided architecture tour will include an overview and description of the two parts of the building and then go inside to the lobby and Arcade.  The tour will then continue to the  artist studios and the roof terrace.

More about the Arcade Building:

The Arcade Building is a mixed-use redevelopment of the historic Arcade-Wright complex which was completed in two phases in 1906 and 1919. The building originally housed offices and seven floors of retail stores including the two-story Arcade that extends from Olive Street through to Pine Street. The building sat vacant for over 25 years and was restored to include 282 apartments, artist studios, and an expanded space for Webster University's Downtown St. Louis campus.

Our Ten Toe Express special guest Walk Leader, Paul Hohmann, is an architect with Ebersoldt+ Associates Architecture, and focuses on the rehabilitation & adaptive re-use of historic structures as well as infill construction in the urban core of St. Louis.  Paul also is the creator of the Vanishing STL blog.  Vanishing STL illustrates the continuing loss of irreplaceable architecture from landmark buildings to ordinary homes due to demolition, abandonment, and neglect in the St. Louis area.

The group will exit the MetroLink near the 8th and Pine Metro Store.  Walkers that wish to procure their discount cards may do so at this time.  Lunch downtown, after the tour, is optional.
