Citizens for Modern Transit’s upcoming “Talking Transit” event, sponsored in part by the St. Louis Regional Chamber, will provide a forum for discussion on the Transit Security Efforts underway including a panel discussion with Bi-State’s new security personnel. Jim Wild, executive director of East-West Gateway Council of Governments and sponsor of the MetroLink system-wide security assessment I and II, will provide a brief overview of MetroLink Security Report Card developed during Phase II of the security assessment. A panel of Bi-State’s new security personnel will discuss the vision for transit public safety moving forward: Stephen Berry, General Manager of Metro Transit Public Safety; Kevin Scott, Director of Security and Vernon Summers, Manager of Contract Security.

In an effort to actively address local challenges and continue to help our community regain confidence in safe and secure rides aboard MetroLink, the East-West Gateway Council of Governments’ Board of Directors authorized an 8-month, $400,000 MetroLink Security Assessment in March 2018. Phase II was initiated last summer to look at implementation and metrics.
