Linking your own ten toes and transit to local, fresh foods.

Destination: Swansea Farmers Market and Neighbor's Marketplace

For this special walk we will be visiting the Swansea Farmers Market and Neighbor's Marketplace in Illinois. The walk will include the Swansea Farmers Market, a not-for- profit organization established in 2009, that currently features vendors selling fruits, vegetables, meats, and crafts. Walkers are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags to take home their tasty treasures.

The second stop on our Metro-East tour is Neighbor's Marketplace. Neighbors is a newly opened grocery store less than one block from the Emerson Park MetroLink Station.  The new store offers fresh produce, on location butcher, deli services, ready-to-eat hot foods and more.  The store provides healthy choices in what was a food desert.  Owner Sterling Moody will give the history of the store and what it means to the area.
