As the St. Louis region continues to explore the potential for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in the City of St. Louis’ Northside-Southside corridor, Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT), in partnership with St. Louis REALTORS®, commissioned a study to examine the impact of transit technology on local real estate values. Findings from the St. Louis Housing Prices Near Transit Study will be released during CMT’s virtual “Talking Transit” event on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required and can be completed here.
Those in attendance will be the first to hear the results of the study completed by the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT), a Chicago-based nonprofit providing research, tools and policy guidance to create innovative solutions for equitable, sustainable and resilient urban communities. Panelists will include Justin Romeo, Managing Director with Center for Neighborhood Technology; Paul Esling, Senior Analyst with Center for Neighborhood Technology; Scott Ogilvie, Planning Executive: Transportation with the City of St. Louis, and Charlie Hinderliter, Chief Advocacy Officer and Director of Commercial Services with St. Louis REALTORS®. The discussion will be moderated by Kimberly Cella, CEO of CMT.
“Public transit delivers value far beyond the ride—it strengthens our economy and has the potential to positively impact real estate values,” said Kim Cella, CEO of CMT. “This would be a significant win for areas of the City of St. Louis that have not seen investment in decades. As the region continues to explore BRT and seek voter support, it’s critical that we clearly and consistently communicate the benefits of investing in large-scale capital projects in ways that resonate with the public.”
