Metro Transit Prepares to Transport SLPS High School Students on the Bus System

Free Day Passes Available for Parents to Take a Practice Ride with their Students This Week

Hundreds of high school students in the St. Louis Public School District (SLPS) will board a MetroBus to get to and from classes when the new school year starts on Monday, August 19. Metro Transit is ready to help the teenagers plan their trips to school so navigating public transportation next week is as easy as possible.

Metro Transit created a “How to Ride” video and informational flyer, which were given to SLPS last week so the information could be shared with high school students and their parents. The video is posted on the SLPS website and the video and flyer are also available on the Metro website under the Student Passes tab. Students and parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the information in advance of the first day of school.

SLPS purchased Student Semester Passes and is distributing the transit passes for high school students who need transportation to and from school.

Parents interested in taking a practice ride to and from school with their teen can obtain a day pass by contacting Metro Transit Customer Service at 314-982-1406 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Metro Transit also offers several tools to plan their MetroBus trip in advance. They can download the Transit app to their mobile device to plan their trip, check service alerts, buy a mobile fare or see the real-time location of their bus, all from the palm of their hand. Students also have the option to contact a Transit Information team member who can create a custom MetroBus trip plan for them. That service is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 314-231-2345 or by texting at 314-207-9786. MetroBus and MetroLink schedules, MetroBus route maps, service alerts and other information are available on the Metro Transit website. Metro Transit Public Safety can be contacted by phone at 314-289-6873 or by texting 314-300-0188.
