Metro Transit Announces Temporary Closure of University City-Big Bend MetroLink Station

December 10, 2025

Starting Thursday, December 18, the University City-Big Bend MetroLink Station will close for approximately 3 weeks. This closure is required as contractors install new infrastructure and make station upgrades in relation to Metro Transit’s Secure Platform Plan (SPP). The timing of the closure was coordinated with WashU to ensure it would take place while students are on winter break, minimizing the impact to riders at that station.

The station’s westbound entrance and elevator (located on the north side of Big Bend Blvd.) will close starting on Monday, December 15, but transit riders will be able to access both westbound and eastbound trains at the station from the eastbound entrance and ramp (located on the south side of Big Bend Blvd.) through Wednesday, December 17.

On and after December 18, the station will become inaccessible to transit riders and MetroLink trains will not stop at the station. A Metro Shuttle Van will operate between the station and nearby Clayton MetroLink Station every 20 minutes during normal service hours.

Transit riders needing to access the area around the University City-Big Bend MetroLink Station are advised to consider allowing extra travel time during this closure.

Metro Transit invites the public and riders with questions to reach out to the Metro Transit Information team at 314-231-2345 (phone) or 314-207-9786 (text).
