Metro Transit has announced that following a national search, they have hired Lewis Lowry III to lead Metro Transit’s Call-A-Ride team. Lowry became General Manager of Paratransit in December 2024.
Prior to Metro Transit, Lowry served as the Transportation Director for the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority for two years. Prior to that, Lowry began his public transit career at Kansas City Area Transportation Authority in 2013. Initially, he was responsible for managing mobility service contracts before being promoted to Chief Transportation Officer. Additionally, Lowry currently serves as Secretary for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Mobility Management Committee.
As the new General Manager of Paratransit, Lowry leads a team of managers, supervisors, support personnel, 200 professional operators, call center reservationists and dispatchers. He plans to enhance the Call-A-Ride customer service experience for the area by implementing new customer service protocols and advanced training for staff.
