Consider a Year-End Gift to CMT To Continue to Transform Transit Stops in the St. Louis Region

Public transit access is about so much more than just trips via the train or the bus. Transit stops help connect communities, promote equity, improve safety and position a region for growth. Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) has transformed two stops in the region since 2019 – helping to underscore these realities. The organization is currently embarking on two more and needs your help. Please consider a special, tax deductible, year-end gift to keep these projects on track.

CMT launched its “Transit Stop Transformation” projects in partnership with AARP in St. Louis two years ago. Since then, the region has witnessed the transformation of the Maplewood MetroBus Stop in Maplewood, Mo., and the Emerson Park Transit Center in East St. Louis, Ill. Both projects succeeded at completely transforming these spaces into vibrant, engaging corridors warmly received by transit riders and the community-at-large. In fact, CMT was recently recognized with an East-West Gateway Council of Governments’  Outstanding Local Government Achievement (OLGA) award in the Leadership in Planning and Design Innovation category for this work.

“Transit Stop Transformation” projects seek to engage individuals, groups, and stakeholders at a grassroots level to produce long-term impacts in neighborhoods. Each also helps to improve safety and security (a CMT priority for the last five years), build ridership on the system, and increase activity around transit, while reinforcing the element of fun that comes with activating space. The Belleville and North Hanley Transit Centers are the next stops set to be transformed.
