CMT Seeks Part-Time, Seasonal Walk Leader for Ten Toes + Transit Program

Do you enjoy walking, taking public transit, discovering hidden gems throughout the St. Louis region, and meeting new people? Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as a part-time, seasonal Walk Leader for its Ten Toes + Transit program from September through November, 2026.

Ten Toes + Transit combines the health benefits of walking with the convenience of public transit, helping older adults stay active while exploring neighborhoods, parks, museums, trails, local businesses and other unique destinations throughout the St. Louis region. As a Walk Leader, you’ll play an important role in creating fun, welcoming experiences that encourage healthy living, social connection and confidence using MetroLink and MetroBus.

The ideal candidate will be available to work up to 10 hours per week, generally between 8 AM and 2 PM, during September, October, and November. This is a paid, seasonal position, offering $15 per hour and transit passes for each day worked.

Responsibilities may include:

• Meet program participants at designated Transit Centers and guide the group to its destination using a combination of transit and walking
• Communicate with participants to answer questions and assist with planning their travel to the designated meeting location
• Submit a brief written report following each walk

Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to commit up to 10 hours per week during the program season
• Friendly, dependable, and committed to providing excellent customer service to program participants
• Comfortable using public transit and using applications like Google Maps, Apple Maps, and the Transit App to assist in navigating the group while leading walks
