Founded in 1846, the St. Louis Mercantile Library is the oldest general library in continuous existence West of the Mississippi. The Mercantile Library continues to build collections that concentrate on Westward Expansion, American rail and river transportation history as well as the history, development, and growth of the St. Louis region. The library’s Fine Art collection includes pieces by American artists such as George Caleb Bingham, Thomas Hart Benson and Oscar Berninghaus. Just us for this guided tour that will allow us to delve into the history, art, and archival materials of American history.

Please meet CMT staff at the Shrewsbury Lansdowne I-44 Transit Center near the ticket vending machines on October 23 at 9:00 AM. We'll board the east bound Blue Line MetroLink at 9:28 for our trip to UMSL. From there, we'll embark on a .75 mile walk to our destination: St. Louis Mercantile Library.

This walk is capped at 20 participants.
