Pop-up Metro Market | Historic Wabash Station | 6005 Delmar Blvd. | May 4 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Citizens for Modern Transit and AARP St. Louis announced plans for a pop-up Metro Market to be held on Thursday, May 4 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Wabash Station in The Loop located at 6005 Delmar Blvd. as a part of the Finish Line celebration for the 2017 Great Race. The event is designed to temporarily transform the vacant site into an active space that connects people to products, services and green spaces, showcasing how areas around transit stations can become focal points for activity. This event is free and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend.
The pop-up Metro Market will feature “2 Girls, 4 Wheels” and “Destination Desserts” food trucks, produce from the Community Action Agency of St. Louis, fresh flowers from Flower Hill Farm, entertainment by Joe Fry the Guitar Guy, access to adoptable dogs from the Animal Protection Association of Missouri, bike tune-ups from Big Shark Bicycle Company and chalk artistry by Chalk Riot STL. There will also be a caricature artist, yoga instruction, programming information from Forest Park Forever, an oversized Jenga game, corn hole, a MetroBus photo frame for taking commemorative pictures, a café area and more.
The event will also serve as the finish line of the Great Race 2017: Transit in Action, featuring a host of local media personalities. Attendees can watch teams compete in the final leg of the race, before trophies are awarded by local dignitaries.
The pop-up event and Great Race competition are being made possible thanks to a variety of partners and sponsors, including Enterprise CarShare, St. Louis Regional Chamber, ATU Local 788, CBB Transportation Engineers + Planners, Metro, Great Rivers Greenway, Forest Park Forever and Washington University.
