June 20, 2013 is National Dump the Pump Day!

Dump the PumpCMT and Metro St. Louis invite you to Dump the Pump on Thursday, June 20, 2013!

With transportation making up more and more of families’ and individual’s monthly budget, saving money is on everyone’s mind. The price of gas, the cost to park, vehicle maintenance and insurance are costing us more money than ever. Now is the time to Dump the Pump and try transit. According to the American Public Transit Association (APTA), a two-person household can save more than $10,000 a year on average by downsizing to one car and using public transit.

Find out how much money you could save when you ride Metro using their fuel savings calculator.

Read APTA’s long list of reasons to Dump the Pump!

Show your support for transit by joining CMT as a member, at the 20th Anniversary Celebration for MetroLink, at our annual meeting, and more!

Look for Tony Transit during ‘happy hour’ or peak rush hour on the 20th.  This is the last day he will be giving out gift cards and other prizes to stress that taking transit  really does put money back in your pockets!   Find Tony Transit on the train and walk away from an even happier commute!

Here is how the promotion will work:

  • Follow Tony Patrico on TWITTER at @PatricoWAR (We like to call him Tony Transit!)
  • Listen to Tony on 105.7  THE POINT to find out where he will be boarding the train for his trips (starting points will change for each trip) or follow his Tweets to find out where he is boarding.
  • Find Tony Transit  on the train (he is pictured in the image above just in case you don’t know what he looks like), show him his ‘transit’ tweet and he will present you with one of many great prizes, including Visa Gift Cards.
  • Sit back and enjoy your ride home on transit!
