Has anyone else noticed the increase in bikes and scooters? When I was coming home last night on MetroLink, a biker boarded at Union Station and when I got off, two more bikers were waiting to get on the train. It will be interesting to see if the new bikers continue this fall and winter. I usually walk to MetroLink year round. Basically, if you dress for it, it's just a matter of getting use to it.
I will try and get some biking statistics from Metro and publish them.

Tom,
There has been a definite increase in Metro riders with bicycles. But then again there has been an increase in overall ridership. The problems with the increases are that the MetroLink cars are not designed for passengers with bikes. Couple this with rider-filled trains and it makes it even more difficult for a rider to bring a bike on. I dream of the day that metro has bicycle specific cars like the MBTA in Boston. Think is could ever happen here?
I would have to look into what Boston has specifically. When I was there in January, the cars on the Boston Green Line (light rail) were packed like Japan. Portland has on board verticle bike racks. I will find out how many bikes per car can be stowed.
