Where Should MetroLink Go Next?

The East-West Gateway Coordinating Council is in the final stages of studying a potential MetroLink extension that would extend from downtown, through South St. Louis to the St. Louis County line and from downtown, through North St. Louis to Interstate 70. By early summer the region should know the costs of the extensions and projected ridership.

EWGCC also has taken a preliminary look at extending MetroLink to West Port Plaza along Page Avenue, perhaps connecting to the proposed North City Line or connecting to Clayton along I-170. However, costs, ridership and the exact route have not been determined.

Also, EWGCC has looked at extending the North City and South City lines further into St. Louis County. Like the West County Line, a high level of detail is not known at this point.

Where do you think the next extension of MetroLink should go? Any extension will require local voters passing an additional sales tax to fund the extension which hopefully would qualify for federal funding of at least 50%.

I would use and enjoy seeing Metrolink go North along I-170 to hit Delmar, Olive Blvd, Page, St. Charles Rock Road and perhaps even further to reconnect to Hanley Road Metrolink Station. It would finally allow for a total "Loop".

I favor the proposal to connect Clayton with West Port Plaza along Page and I-170.

West Port! That just makes so much sense. There is no Metro connection anywhere in the middle of the County. All the great restaurants in West Port would appreciate the extra business and folks in West County and St. Charles would have a great alternative to driving. I hope it comes to West Port soon.

I would love for a line extending along I64 to the Chesterfield Valley area that offered connections to downtown lines. Far more people would be able to use the lines for commuting to and from work if Metro had this availability.
